Terms of use

Two sets: one for anyone reading the site, one for institutions that list on it.

For everyone reading

• Students never pay and never need an account. Everything on the site is open and free, with nothing hidden behind an email form. Accounts exist only for people who manage a listing.
• We are not an adviser. Nothing here is immigration, legal or financial advice. Visa decisions belong to governments and to regulated advisers, and we will always say so rather than guess.
• Check before you pay anyone. We publish what open sources and official registers say, as carefully as we can. Registers go out of date, institutions change, and we make mistakes. Before you pay a fee or book a flight, confirm with the institution and with the official source we name.
• The study advisor is an AI system. It answers only from what this portal holds, and it can still be wrong. Treat it as a starting point, never as the answer.
• We are not an authority. Studies Multiverse is not a university, a government body or an official register. Information may change at any time: always confirm with the institution.
• Ads and affiliate links. The site shows ads, which are not endorsements, and some links are affiliate links, marked where they appear.
• What we will not do. We do not sell your details, and no institution can pay to be listed, to be placed higher, or to change, hide or reorder what an official record says about it. Not at any price.

For institutions and advisors listed here

• All listings are free. Being listed, claiming your page and every part of it (photographs, your course list, your own words, an enquiry form) cost nothing. There is no paid placement, paid ranking or featured listing, and nothing changes the answer from a register.
• How lists and search are ordered. Search results put an exact name or well-known abbreviation first, then order by kind of institution (universities first), then names that start with the words typed, then pages kept up to date by their own institution (claiming is free), then shorter names. Browsing lists put pages kept up to date by their own institution first, then go alphabetically. Nothing an institution pays, including any recruitment commission, changes where it appears.
• What you publish is yours and is your responsibility. By adding words, logos or photographs you confirm you may licence them to us for your listing. Anything unlawful, misleading, or not yours comes down.
• Claiming a page. A request to manage a page must come from an official email address of the institution, at its own domain where it has one. Personal addresses (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and the like) are not accepted. Every request is checked by a person. If we cannot approve it, we email the reason and how to ask again, and you can ask us to look at it again by replying.
• Authority to manage a page. Whoever claims a page confirms that they work for the institution and may manage its page for it, and confirms it again when accepting these terms. We keep a sealed record of how each page was claimed and managed (the request, our approval, acceptance of these terms, security set-up, changes to the page, and the date, subject and fingerprint of each email between us, as set out in the privacy notice), and may use it to show who managed a page, to answer a complaint, or in legal proceedings.
• Your account. Signing in needs your password and a code from your phone. Keep both, and your sign-in code, to yourself. You are responsible for what is done through your account; tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
• Student enquiries. Students can write to you through a form on your page. We pass each enquiry to the contact email on your page. From then on your institution is responsible for it as a separate controller under the GDPR: use it only to answer the student and about their studies with you, keep it secure, do not pass it on or add the student to marketing lists without their consent, and delete it when you no longer need it. We keep our own copy for two years so a student can ask us if no answer came.
• We can suspend a listing that is used to mislead students, impersonate another institution, or publish something we have no right to carry. We will tell you why, in writing, and you can put it right.
• Changes to these terms. We email listed institutions at least 15 days before a change to these terms takes effect, unless the law requires a change sooner. You can close your listing before then if you do not agree.
• Complaints. If you disagree with a decision we made about your listing or with the service, write to admin@studiesmultiverse.com. A person reviews every complaint and answers in writing within five working days.
• Student reviews. Students can review an institution they study or studied at. Every reviewer confirms their email, a person at Studies Multiverse reads each review before it appears, and good and bad reviews are published on the same terms. We never edit or pay for reviews, and an institution cannot remove one by paying or asking; it can reply publicly under it, or report a review that breaks the rules (not a real student, abusive, personal data about staff, advertising), which we then review. Reviews from the institution’s own email domain are not accepted.
• You can leave whenever you like. Ask and the listing comes down: see corrections and removals.

Using the site fairly

• Do not try to break into, overload or probe the security of the site, its accounts or its administration area.
• Do not copy the site, its design, code or text in bulk, or collect pages with automated tools, except the open data offered under licence below and through /api/v1/. Ordinary search engine indexing is welcome.
• Do not use the site to send spam, to impersonate an institution, or to mislead students.
• We may block access that breaks these rules.

Reporting content, and our decisions

If something on a listing is unlawful, misleading or infringes your rights, report it at corrections and removals or write to admin@studiesmultiverse.com, saying where it is and why. That address is also our single point of contact for authorities and for users under the EU Digital Services Act; we answer in English or Greek. A person reviews every report. When we remove or restrict something an institution published, we tell them what we did and why, and they can ask us to look again.

How this site earns its money

We are a company. Listing is free for everyone, and the site is paid for by advertising (Google AdSense), affiliate commission on some links to services students need (marked where they appear). None of it changes the information shown, which institutions are listed, or their order. The full account, with what we will never sell, is on Disclosures.

Where the institution data comes from

The directory is built from open sources, each credited here and under its own licence: the Research Organization Registry (ROR, CC0), the university-domains-list project on GitHub (MIT licence), and for the United States the IPEDS data of the National Center for Education Statistics (public domain). Register records come from the government publishers named on each record. Country guide figures carry their own source and the date we checked them.

Our data, and using it elsewhere

The institution data we publish is licensed CC BY 4.0: use it, including commercially, including to train a model, as long as you credit Studies Multiverse. The machine-readable copies are at /llms.txt and /api/v1/, open and without a key.

That licence covers the data. It does not cover our name, our mark, the design of the site, its software, or the words we wrote, which are © A.I.T. Multiverse Consulting Ltd, all rights reserved, and it does not cover material an institution added to its own listing. Where we stand if something goes wrong

We provide this site as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of error, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for indirect loss, a missed deadline, a refused visa, a course that was not what you hoped. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Cyprus, and the courts of Cyprus have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protections of the law where you live.
