Who we are and how we check

Studies Multiverse is an independent guide to where and what to study, at home or abroad. It lists 31,355 universities, colleges and schools in 224 countries, and for 62 countries it sets out what a year costs, the money a student visa asks to see, work rights and government scholarships.

Who runs it

The site is published by A.I.T. Multiverse Consulting Ltd, Cyprus. It was built so that students and families can check the facts about studying for themselves, from official sources, before they decide.

We are not a university, a government body or an immigration adviser, and every institution is listed for free: none can pay for a better place. The site is paid for by advertising and affiliate links. Disclosures sets out every source of income and what it can never change.

Where the figures come from

Every cost, visa amount, work limit and post-study stay in a country guide is taken from an official page: a government, an embassy, a ministry or the university itself. The guides cite 311 official websites. Each figure carries a link to its source and the date we checked it, so you never have to take our word for it.

The list of institutions comes from open public registers we are allowed to republish: the Research Organization Registry for the worldwide list, the US Department of Education’s IPEDS data for what American institutions teach, the European Tertiary Education Register (ETER, CC BY 4.0) for what European institutions teach, Australia’s CRICOS, Japan’s register of accredited language schools, and Wikidata (CC0) for English names, founding years and student numbers. Each institution page names its source.

How a figure is kept up to date

1. Every night, the official pages behind the guides are read again automatically.
2. When a page changes, the new wording and the figure it seems to give are set aside for review. Nothing changes on the site at this stage.
3. A person reads the change against the official page and approves or rejects it. Only an approved figure reaches the guide, with the new check date.
4. Announced changes to visas, fees and work rights are logged with their dates on the rule changes page, including the ones that have not come into force yet.

Official registers

Four governments publish a register of the institutions allowed to enrol international students: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Japan. Where one exists we read it, show what it says about an institution and the date of the edition we read. Everywhere else there is no such register, which says nothing about the schools there, and we say so rather than implying a check we did not make.

What we will not do

• Take money to change, hide or reorder what an official source says.
• Publish a figure without its source and date.
• Call an institution fraudulent, banned or shut down. We report only what a register did or did not show on a given date.
• Ask you for an account or an email address to read anything.

Languages

The site is written in English and available in Greek, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Arabic. The translations are made by machine and corrected by hand where we have found mistakes; where a translation and the English differ, the English is the reference.

Found a mistake?

Write to admin@studiesmultiverse.com or use the corrections page. Wrong figures are fixed, usually the same day, and institutions can claim their page to correct their own details at no cost.
