Studying abroad is one of the largest sums a family will spend, and much of the advice online comes from people paid by the schools they recommend. This site is independent and takes no commission. We show where every figure comes from and when we last checked it, so you can check it yourself.

Do students pay anything?

No. Everything on the site is open to read, with no account. Institutions can pay for a fuller page with photographs and their own words; they cannot pay to change, hide or reorder the facts.

Are you an agent? Do you take commission?

No. We do not place students and we take no commission from schools on students who enrol. We publish information and link you to the official source.

Where do your figures come from?

From the official websites of governments, embassies and universities: 311 of them across our 62 country guides. Every figure carries its source and the date we checked it. We re-read the sources every night and a person reviews any change before a figure is updated.

How do I know a school is real?

Where a government publishes a register of institutions allowed to enrol international students (the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Japan), we show what it says and the date we read it. Everywhere else, ask the school which accreditation body recognises it, and read our guide to spotting scams before you pay anything.

How much money do I need to show for a student visa?

It depends on the country, and it is one of the most common reasons a visa is refused. Each country guide gives the amount from the official page, and the cost tool converts it into your own currency.

Can I work while I study, and stay after I graduate?

Most countries allow some work during term and many offer a work visa after graduation, but the hours and the length differ a lot. The post-study work tool compares every guide country on one page.
