Study for a career: where your job is in demand
For twelve common careers, whether the job appears on the official skills or shortage list of eight countries students choose most, with a link to each list and the date it was checked.
Studying abroad is often the first step to working abroad. Several governments publish the occupations they most want to fill, and being on such a list can make a work visa easier after you graduate. This page reads those official lists for twelve common careers.

How to read this
- Being on a list helps; it does not guarantee a visa. Each list has its own conditions, such as salary levels or a job offer.Source: gov.uk, 3 August 2026
- Lists change, often yearly. The UK Immigration Salary List, for example, mostly lapses on 31 December 2026.Source: gov.uk, 3 August 2026
- “Check the list” means we could not confirm the entry from the official page on the day we checked. Open the list itself.
- In Germany a foreign degree must be recognised for regulated professions, and often to get a work visa at all.Source: make-it-in-germany.com, 22 September 2026
Rules change. Every line above links to the official page it comes from; read it before you act, and tell us if something has changed: report a correction.
