Studying in Egypt

The rules and the money, before you apply

These apply to every international student in Egypt, including at Higher Institute of Advanced Studies. Each figure shows where it came from and when we last checked it.

Money you must show

No fixed amount published

The Study in Egypt portal and the university pages we checked do not state a minimum balance for student residence.

Study in Egypt, Ministry of Higher Education, source re-checked 2 Nov 2026

Stay after you graduate

No post-study work visa

Residence is tied to enrolment. Staying to work needs an employer and a separate work permit.

How to apply in Egypt

The same rules for every institution in Egypt; Higher Institute of Advanced Studies's own programme pages govern the exact dates and scores. Guide checked 24 Sep 2026.

Deadlines and intakes

The Egyptian academic year starts in September or October.

Language you need

Arabic is the main language of teaching at public universities. Some public faculties also run English-taught programmes or sections; the Study in Egypt portal shows the language and fee for each programme. Private universities such as AUC and Future University teach in English.

Check the language of your exact programme, not the faculty. Clinical training in hospitals involves patients who speak Egyptian Arabic, so even on an English-taught medical degree you will need working Arabic for your clinical years. Everyday life, residence renewals and hospital placements all run in Arabic.

How we check reviews

Every reviewer confirms their email address with a one-time link, and a person at Studies Multiverse reads each review before it appears. We publish good and bad reviews on the same terms, never edit them, never pay for them, and an institution cannot remove a review by paying us. Reviews sent from the institution’s own email domain are not accepted. Institutions can reply below a review. See our terms.
