Studying in Taiwan
These apply to every international student in Taiwan, including at WuFeng University. Each figure shows where it came from and when we last checked it.
Money you must show
Universities set their own minimum. National Taiwan University asks self-funded applicants for a bank balance of at least NT$200,000.

Visa fee
Nationals of countries that charge Taiwan passport holders extra pay the equivalent extra amount. The Alien Resident Certificate then costs NT$1,000 a year.

Work while you study

Stay after you graduate
In force from 1 January 2026 for graduates with an associate degree or higher from a Taiwanese institution.

Deadlines and intakes
The academic year starts in September, with a smaller February intake at some universities.
NTU's application periods for September 2027 entry:
Language you need
English-taught programmes exist at many universities, especially at master's level and in engineering, business and the semiconductor-focused colleges. NTU asks for English at CEFR B2 or above for English-taught programmes.
Chinese-taught programmes at NTU ask for CEFR A2 or above, evidenced by a recognised test such as TOCFL. Other universities set their own levels.
Free for students
Tell us what you want to study. Your request goes to the admissions team or to an adviser who works with them will contact you by email to help with your application. It costs you nothing.

Government schemes for international students coming to Taiwan. Each one sets its own rules on nationality and level.
