Money you must show
Proof that you changed at least this much foreign currency into rupees, asked for with the residence visa (University of Peradeniya).

Charged for a year or part of a year. Your university may quote it in rupees.

Deadlines and intakes
The UGC foreign admission scheme opens once a year; the closing date for 2025-26 was 17 August 2026. Private institutions have their own intakes. Plan to arrive with time to file the residence visa inside 30 days.
Language you need
Degrees for foreign students are mostly taught in English. Sinhala and Tamil are the national languages; some Sinhala or Tamil helps in daily life.
Free for students
Tell us what you want to study. Your request goes to the admissions team or to an adviser who works with them will contact you by email to help with your application. It costs you nothing.
