Studying in North Macedonia

The rules and the money, before you apply

These apply to every international student in North Macedonia, including at St.Kliment Ohridski University. Each figure shows where it came from and when we last checked it.

How to apply in North Macedonia

The same rules for every institution in North Macedonia; St.Kliment Ohridski University's own programme pages govern the exact dates and scores. Guide checked 25 Sep 2026.

Deadlines and intakes

For 2025/26, UKIM took applications from foreign students from 19 August to 29 September 2025, by email to its foreign students office, with original documents delivered to the Rectorate in Skopje. Its general enrolment ran from 29 August to 30 September. Expect similar late-summer dates, and check the page for your year.

Then allow time for the Ministry of Interior's decision on temporary residence, followed by the D visa, which you must apply for at least 15 days before travelling.

Language you need

Macedonian is the official language, and programmes not listed as English-taught should be assumed to need it until the university tells you otherwise. UKIM offers the English-taught programmes listed above. Your documents for the residence application must be translated into Macedonian.

How we check reviews

Every reviewer confirms their email address with a one-time link, and a person at Studies Multiverse reads each review before it appears. We publish good and bad reviews on the same terms, never edit them, never pay for them, and an institution cannot remove a review by paying us. Reviews sent from the institution’s own email domain are not accepted. Institutions can reply below a review. See our terms.
