How to apply in Finland

The same rules for every institution in Finland; Police University College's own programme pages govern the exact dates and scores. Guide checked 24 Sep 2026.

Deadlines and intakes

The main route is the joint application through Studyinfo (opintopolku.fi), for English-taught bachelor's and master's programmes starting in autumn. The University of Helsinki gives the period for studies starting in autumn 2027 as 5-19 January 2027. Other universities use the joint application too, but some master's programmes run their own rounds: check each programme page.

Results normally come out in spring. Then you accept, pay the first year's tuition or show the funds, and apply for the permit. Finnish permit processing can take weeks to months at peak times, so apply the day you accept.

Language you need

English-taught programmes need no Finnish or Swedish. English test requirements are set by each university and programme: check the admissions page for accepted tests and minimum scores.

Outside universities and the tech sector, many part-time and graduate jobs expect Finnish, which is hard to learn quickly. The government has also said it will add a language competence requirement to study permits to prevent misuse; the details were not published when we checked. Take the Finnish courses your university offers from your first term if you want to stay.

Student reviews: none yet for Police University College. If you study or studied here, yours would be the first.

How we check reviews

Every reviewer confirms their email address with a one-time link, and a person at Studies Multiverse reads each review before it appears. We publish good and bad reviews on the same terms, never edit them, never pay for them, and an institution cannot remove a review by paying us. Reviews sent from the institution’s own email domain are not accepted. Institutions can reply below a review. See our terms.
