Immigration and visa information
Some pages on this site describe immigration rules: processing times, fees, financial requirements, the legal tests applied to student visa applications, and what happens after a refusal. That material summarises published statutes, immigration rules and official statistics, with the source named and the date we read it.
It is not immigration advice, and we are not regulated immigration advisers. In the United Kingdom, advising on an individual immigration case is a regulated activity, and nothing on this site is advice on any individual case. We are not lawyers.
Immigration rules change frequently and without notice, they differ by nationality, route and country of application, and any real decision turns on documents and circumstances we cannot see. Where a deadline or fee on this site differs from the one on your own notice or on the government’s website, theirs governs. Before acting, paying a fee, requesting a review, or reapplying, check the current position on the relevant government website or take advice from a qualified lawyer or regulated adviser in the country concerned.
We accept no liability for any decision taken on the basis of information published here.
Where the figures come from, and where they stop
Every processing time, fee and statistic is taken from the government or agency that publishes it, and each row says which one and when we read it. Where a government does not publish something, and several do not publish student visa refusal rates at all; we say so rather than borrow a number from elsewhere or construct one and present it as official. Where a figure is our own arithmetic, it is labelled as such at the point of use.
Short quotations from statutes, immigration rules and official guidance are attributed and linked where they appear. UK legislation and government guidance are Crown copyright, reproduced under the Open Government Licence; United States federal agency material is a work of the US Government. Everything else is our own summary rather than a source’s wording.
