How we make money

Everything on this site is free to read, with no account, no email gate and nothing blurred. Somebody still has to pay for it. Here is exactly who, and exactly what it does and does not buy.

1. Institutions pay for a better page

Any institution can claim its listing and correct its facts for nothing, permanently. We would rather have the facts right than have the money, because wrong facts are what gets a directory sued.

€199 a year buys presentation: photographs, a course list, an enquiry form that reaches them, and no advertising on their page. €499 a year adds placement at the top of country and subject pages they choose. Paid placement is always labelled as paid, wherever it appears.

Invoiced yearly, in euro, directly. We take no card details, nothing renews on its own, and a lapsed listing drops back to the free version rather than disappearing.

2. Advertising

Some pages carry Google advertising. Which pages is decided by a rule in our code, not case by case:

• Never on a page that carries a register verdict about a named institution.
• Never on a listing or search page, where an ad would compete with the results.
• Never on the page of an institution that pays us.
• On country and guide pages, where it sits beside the writing rather than inside it.

We do not choose the adverts, and an advertiser cannot buy anything else here by buying an advert.

3. Affiliate commission

Students need a bank account, insurance, a way to move money and somewhere to live. Where we recommend a service, the link is marked, and we earn a commission if it is used — at no extra cost to the student. Those services appear because students need them, not because they paid to be first, and none of them touches a register page.

What we will not sell

• The register verdict. At any price, to anyone.
• Removal of a true fact. A correction is free; suppression is not for sale.
• Student data. An enquiry goes to the institution the student wrote to, and nowhere else. We do not sell leads to agents.
• Unlabelled placement. If it was paid for, it says so.

Why an institution is listed at all

We publish factual information about educational institutions — name, country, kind, website, and where a government publishes one, standing on the official register. It comes from open-licensed public sources, which are named on every page. We publish no logos, no photographs and no individual’s contact details unless the institution adds them itself.
